… so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. – Colossians 1:10 ESV
You may have heard the question, “You can talk the talk, but are you walking the walk?” As Christians, we are often judged at a higher standard than the rest of the world. Sometimes, we are even expected to be perfect.Picture an infant as he learns to crawl and then to walk. As he stumbles, his mother or father reaches out to him and says, “I’ve got you; don’t worry. I won’t let you fall.” This is exactly what the Lord is saying to each of us as we learn to walk in our relationship with Him. We first learn to crawl, and this can be rougher for some than others. But as we start to read and learn His Word, seeking His will for our lives, we stand on two feet and start walking. The truth is that no matter where each of us is in our walk with God, whether at the beginning or as a mature believer, we will still make mistakes, never achieving perfection. But, we ought not to be discouraged. We need to remain confident that the walking gets easier with each right step that is taken. And as we reach out for the Lord, His arms are stretched out wide towards us. We need not worry. He won’t let us fall.
Pray that your walk with the Lord will strengthen and grow each day.
Thank the Lord for catching you as you stumble through life, preventing you from falling.
