The Greatest Ally

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. –Exodus 14:14 NIV

If we’ve been Christians for more than five minutes, we know what it’s like to go through spiritual battles. At the time, our troubles seem insurmountable, our faith weak, and our strength gone. However, when victory comes, we finally see that the Father is there all the time. We are able to see how He was working when we thought He had left us. Our faith is stronger, hope is restored, and growth comes. It’s not in times of peace but in the heat of the battle that we truly discover what we’re made of and where our confidence lies. It’s in the heat of the battle that we dig deep and find a strength we never knew we had.

During times of battle, nations pull together for the good of all, determined to overcome the enemy of their freedom. In our personal battles, we, too, have an ally. The Father works with us to protect the freedom of our hearts, souls, and minds. The battle is the Lord’s, and we will not be overcome as we rest in His strength. Victory is guaranteed if we persevere. So, we must not give up or get discouraged. “…The battle is the Lord’s…” (1 Samuel 17:47).

prayer focuses

Thank You, Lord, that when battles come, I am not fighting them alone. The battle belongs to You.

Lord, help me to fight the good fight of faith.
