The Lord is Our Salvation

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. –Isaiah 12:2 NIV

The third chapter of the book of Daniel tells us about three young men who put their trust in the Lord. When King Nebuchadnezzar made his image of gold and commanded that all bow down and worship it, there were three young men who refused, not wanting to compromise their faith. The king was furious and had these young men brought before him. He gave Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego a second chance to worship his golden image or be thrown into a fiery furnace. The young men stood firm and said, “If we are thrown into the fire, our God whom we serve is able to save us from it” (Daniel 3:17 NLV).

There will be times in our lives when we feel as though we have been thrown into a fiery furnace. At such times, the raging war against us is so fierce that we do not think that we will prevail. But let us never compromise our faith. We must put our trust in God. For our pain, storms, and situations are no challenge for Him. He will jump into the fire with us, cover us with His holy presence, and deliver us, just as He did for those fearless young men. We must trust in Him and not be afraid, for He is our Salvation. Amen!
