For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. –1 Corinthians 2:16 NLT
In school, if you sat in the front row, you were considered an A-student. The second row was for B-students, etc. For many, if you can’t see, you can’t hear, meaning whatever is blocking your view has caused your focus to shift from the lesson to the distraction.Second Timothy 1:7 says you’ve been given the Spirit of a sound and disciplined mind. The disciplined mind takes every thought captive and makes it obedient to Christ. The disciplined mind is not bogged down by the clutter of lies or condemnation. Rather, it has cast aside all the junk and moved to the “front” to see, hear, and focus on the truths, direction, and purposes of Christ. If your prayers have been wandering down rabbit trails and your worship has been caught up in people-watching, then it’s time to “move to the front row” in your mind. If the A-student, sitting in the front row is the one who studies, is disciplined, and knows all about the subject—and your subject is Christ—isn’t it time you moved to the front row, too? Now is the time to claim and take back the clear, sound, and disciplined mind of Christ!
Thank God for giving you the clear, concise, and creative mind of Christ.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you realize immediately when your focus shifts and to help you shift it back on God.
