For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. –1 John 2:16 NLT
We have all heard the phrase, “Money is the root of all evil.” But the Bible does not say that money, in and of itself, is sinful. First Timothy 6:10 (KJV) says, “…the love of money is the root of all evil.” This verse refers to the excessive attachment to material wealth where our thoughts, desires, and pursuit of money begin to consume us. Our Lord desires that our hearts should be set on things above, not on material possessions here on earth.
We are called to be good stewards of all that the Lord has entrusted to us. We certainly need to earn money as well as put some aside for savings. Yet, we must understand that everything we have belongs to God, including our wealth. And God calls us to give back and bless others with our money and possessions, having a spirit of generosity.
When we submit to the Lord and practice what He says regarding money, we experience freedom. Proverbs 10:22 (NLT) says, “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” So, be blessed, be generous, and be prosperous as God intended.
Pray that you may always have the spirit of generosity in every area of your life.
Ask God to bless your finances so you can be a blessing to others.
