Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. –Proverbs 7:2-3 NLT
You might tie a string on your finger to help you to remember something. But, more often than not, you can’t remember why you tied it there in the first place. Forgetfulness can be frustrating. As a Christian, you may grow weary and lose heart because you have forgotten what God has been doing in your midst. After a long day with unexpected setbacks, it’s easy to forget all the blessings God has provided—but don’t lose heart.
Tough situations might cause you to forget about the good. One bad day at work or a fight with your spouse could send you down a path of anger and frustration. At such times, it is crucial to remember the good. Pause, recalling the benefits and rewards of your job or your marriage. Thank God for each blessing in your life and watch your perspective change. Don’t look away from God during the bad times. Instead, fix your eyes on Him.
Thank God that He is your strength when life’s troubles try to knock you down.
Ask God to help you keep the bad times in proper perspective.
