Time to Detox?

All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. –1 John 3:3 NIV

Daily, all kinds of stuff can build up on our hair. When this happens, it feels weighed down, looks dull, and becomes unmanageable. Best hair tip advice: buy a clarifying shampoo that will get rid of the buildup and impurities. The result? The hair will be more manageable, it won’t feel weighed down, and the shine will come back.

One might say, “I should have done this a long time ago.” The same is true with our lives and souls. Daily living has a way of building up too many obligations, which begin to weigh our spirits down. We feel sluggish, as though we’ve lost our flare and shine for life.

Guilt and shame from sin have a way of building up inside, too. Left unattended, they have the power to make us feel unworthy of receiving God’s help and forgiveness. What’s the remedy? Time to detox our lives and purify our souls. To get rid of outward and inward buildup, we need to simplify our lives and repent of any sin.

We need to profess as King David did, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10 NIV). Life will become manageable, we’ll be rejuvenated, and we’ll shine for Christ once again.

prayer focuses

Pray that God will reveal to you those activities in your life that are weighing you down, and that He will show you how you can clean out your schedule.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you set healthy boundaries and margins that will allow you to live a more robust, manageable life.
