So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. –1 John 1:6 NLT
Just knowing the truth does not make it active and alive in your life. It will not exempt you from making wrong choices. Although God extends forgiveness of our sins when we repent, He does not promise to hold back the sin’s consequences. That is why it is wise to think before you act. Daily, you need to ask God for wisdom. When wisdom is applied to the knowledge of God’s Word, truth is activated. Knowing and applying biblical truth to your life produces a godly lifestyle. Living a life of integrity in all that you do, say, and think pleases God. This kind of living brings about satisfying consequences, not only for your life but also for the lives of those around you. You will also reap eternal blessings by abiding in biblical truth.
Living by the truth of God’s Word and ways will produce many favorable results. The truth protects you (Psalm 40:11 NLV); the truth guides you (Psalm 43:3 NLT); the truth sets you free (John 8:32 NLT); the truth sanctifies you (John 17:19 NLT); and the truth purifies you (1 Peter 1:22 ESV).
From this day forward, may you dare to live by the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
God, pardon me for the times I’ve made wrong choices. Spirit of Truth, give me daily wisdom so I can make wise decisions.
Lord, help me to speak the truth kindly to others, so they will be able to make wiser choices that will promote good results.
