Turn the Page

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. –Philippians 3:13 NIV

Imagine if you reached the middle of a book and stopped reading—you would never find out how the story ended. Instead, you go back and reread what you’ve already read. You relive every page, but you never get passed the spot where you stopped the first time. Eventually, others get tired of listening to you talk about the same old story that never goes anywhere. They begin to tune you out and start avoiding you. You then get offended, start to believe everyone is against you, and adopt a victim mentality. All of this, just because you refused to simply turn the page and read on. It sounds silly, but don’t we often do the same thing in life? We were hurt by something that was unfair, unwarranted, and cruel. Instead of turning the page, forgiving our abuser, and moving on, we dwell on what was and ignore what could be. Freedom from anger, fear, bitterness, and rejection can be achieved if we’re willing to turn the page. We need to stop living in the past, forgive, and move on to the next chapter. When we do this, we’ll find that the rest of the story is pretty amazing. Let’s turn the page, for our future depends on it.

prayer focuses

Don’t let the past destroy your future.

Imagine Christ turning the page for you. What’s your life worth? Christ paid a hefty price for your freedom, so don’t miss it. This freedom is already yours—just claim it.
