Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. –Psalm 27:14 NIV
Webster’s dictionary defines the word wait as “to remain in readiness or expectation.” Waiting is very difficult for all of us. By nature, we want to be in control of every aspect of our lives, including the timing. We become anxious, taking matters into our own hands, forgetting that we have a heavenly Father who intimately knows us. David expresses this in his words to the Lord: “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar… you are familiar with all my ways” (139:2-3 NIV).
Our Father knows each of us, and He never leaves our side. Psalm 16:8 (NLT) says, “I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.” Let’s sit back and ponder this for a moment, my beloved brothers and sisters. When troubles come, we must turn to our Father, who knows us and is right beside us. We have clear directions from Him. Wait on the Lord, be strong, and take heart. Rest in Him and wait patiently for His direction, for He is always faithful.
Father God, I pray that You will give me the ability to be strong and take heart in my times of trouble.
Holy Spirit, I thank You for being my faithful friend and comfort through my times of suffering.
