Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. –Psalm 62:5 NLT
It can be very difficult as we wait for answers to prayer. Sometimes, an answer comes quickly, while at other times, it doesn’t. During times of waiting, we may not understand, and we may begin to question the power or willingness of God to help us. But it is important to understand that the timing is not in our control. Trust and the Lord’s timing work side by side.
We must not focus on the length of time it takes to receive an answer. God hears every cry prayed in faith and in accordance with His will. Sometimes, the waiting is used to stretch our faith. At other times, our prayers may not fit with the Lord’s purpose for our lives or the lives of others. When those around us seem to receive answers more quickly, we must not get discouraged. Psalm 37:7 (NIV) encourages us: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…” Our heavenly Father longs for us to trust in His faithfulness. In doing so, we will be amazed by the magnitude of the Lord’s goodness and love for us. Remember Isaiah 64:4 (NLT): “For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!”
Father, thank You for being faithful and hearing all the petitions I set before You.
Lord, help me to remember that Your timing is different from mine—but You never forget me.
