We've Already Won

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. –Colossians 2:15 ESV

We read the Word, participate in Bible studies, listen to sermons, and proclaim to the world that we’re Christians. But what happens when things go wrong? In such times, do we act like we believe all of the things we’ve read and heard? Do we respond to circumstances any differently than unbelievers? Yes, we’re human, but does our humanness overshadow our faith? What should we do when life pushes us down in the dirt like a bully on the playground?Jesus asserts in John 16:33 (ESV) that we will have tribulation in this world. But He also assures us that we will have peace in Christ because He has overcome the world. Satan has no authority over Jesus, who knew no sin.Jesus paid for our sins in order that we too could be spotless in God’s eyes. And, because we are in Christ and Christ is in us, Satan has no authority over us. We are God’s children now and for eternity. When troubles come we need to stand strong, putting faith, and not fear, in charge. We are overcomers.
