What Was Jesus Like?

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. –Philippians 2:1-2 ESV

What was Jesus like as a man?

  • He held no special beauty. His personality drew people to Him, not His looks. He had great character and was compassionate (Isaiah 53:2).
  • He had great compassion on crowds who were like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus was serious and focused. He had a mission and nothing sidetracked Him (Matthew 9:36).
  • He had a servant’s heart. He came to serve, not to be served. He was kind and selfless (Mark 10:45).
  • He was strong yet meek, and He spoke with authority. He was also submissive to His Father’s will at the same time (Matthew 26:39).
  • He was obedient to His parents (Luke 2:51).
  • He was obedient to God, learning from things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8).
  • He had a heart of mercy and forgiveness, even on the Cross (Luke 23:34).
  • He was patient, peaceable, and intimate with His followers. He wanted their fellowship. He was loving in His relationships (John 13:23).
  • He was good and caring to those afflicted. He was honest and truthful; He never violated His own word. He spoke only the truth (John 14:6).

What was He like? Why not get to know Him for yourself?

prayer focuses

Jesus was fully human and fully God.

Get to know who He really is through reading the Bible and asking the Spirit to reveal Him to you. As children we imitate our parents, and as believers we imitate Jesus. Walk in His Word and live in His presence daily.
