…If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them; do not let them influence you! –Jeremiah 15:19 NLT
When life gets shaky, we have many promises from the Lord to stand upon. The Lord said in Jeremiah, “If you return to me, I will restore you….” The word for “return” means to repent, turn back, restore, refresh, or repair. For God to restore and repair what’s broken inside our hearts, all He asks is that we turn toward Him. Only then can we see and respond quickly to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, we’ll miss all that He’s trying to do in and through us. When our hearts and attitudes are humble and open toward God, He is quick to renew our spirits, refresh our hearts, and put His Words into our mouths.
Once we have submitted ourselves to God, we become as Isaiah 58:11-12 (NIV) describes, “… like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail…you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
Each of us must ask—from what is the Holy Spirit urging us to turn? As we humble ourselves before the Lord, He will repair and restore us, and we will be His spokesmen to His people.
Thank God that He uses you to bring people closer to Him.
Pray that God will help you be the light that He has called you to be.
