Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever. –Daniel 12:3 NLT
Whom might we consider to be wise? There are many meanings for the word “wise,” such as astute, educated, and knowledgeable. But, as Christ followers, we look at this word in a very different way than the world does. Scripture is very clear concerning what wisdom is and where wisdom comes from. “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6 NIV). We search the Bible for the Lord’s wisdom and instructions.Christ followers are instructed to ask the Lord for wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5 NIV).We can test wisdom to determine whether or not it is of the Lord. “…the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17 NIV). It is not cunning, self-serving, or vindictive.Let us shine brightly with the wisdom that comes from God!
Lord, I pray daily that I will grow in wisdom and knowledge of You.
Lord, I pray that I will trust You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding.
