When it comes to giving, most people tend to think more is better. There is this notion that when we give more money or more time, the funds needed to be raised or project to be accomplished will get done faster. While this is true, do we check our motivation when writing the check? Does it make us feel better to do more? And what about those of us who don’t bother because we feel we have too little to offer or a small amount would barely make a dent? In the parable of the widow who gave two small coins, Jesus says that she gave the most, even more than the wealthy gave. In her heart, the widow wanted to give and be helpful, and she probably knew she wasn’t giving much. However, she also knew the offering was two cents richer, and she wanted to give it even if it was just a small amount. Don’t stop from giving because you think it’s not enough money or time. One dollar is one dollar more toward a cause. One hour of time is one more hour to get the job done. God can do big things with very little.
