For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. –Isaiah 9:6 NIV
What wonderment the shepherds must have felt with all of God’s glory surrounding them as the angels announced the birth of the King of Kings. As they were hearing the good news about the Savior’s birth, they probably fell to their knees, then to their faces in awe. Not far off in a manger was the Child wrapped in swaddling clothes (see Luke 2:12).
Oh, what a wonderful day that was when the Savior was made known to the world. There was applause in Heaven, and there were angels singing praises when He was born. Jesus left the riches of Heaven to come to this earth for one purpose: to sacrifice His life for you and for me. Let us honor our King and bow before Him, not only throughout the Christmas season but through every season of our lives. Let us surrender all that we are and give Jesus all the praise and honor that He deserves. He is the King of kings.
Jesus, Lord of Lords and King of Kings help me to surrender all that I am to You so I can know You in a deeper way.
Holy Spirit, help me to be more sensitive to Your voice, and let this holiday season be a season of my renewed dedication for Your purposes.
