Running after Jesus

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. –Isaiah 40:31 NIV

There are many different ways to exercise. One of the most common is running. The length and intensity of a person’s running routine will vary from person to person. While some serious athletes enter marathons, others simply run for daily exercise. In our own lives, a variety of things spur us on to run and chase after them—careers, money, relationships, and much more. When we run after worldly things, we may achieve them, but they don’t always bring the satisfaction that we expected. Running to Jesus is the only way to secure total self-fulfillment. This is where our focus should remain. It is important to keep in mind that our Sovereign God sets the course. As we run our own race, there will be days that are more difficult than others. We need the power of God to help us do more than we could possibly achieve on our own. Let us not take your eyes off Jesus. We must pray for God’s will and wisdom to be demonstrated in our lives so that we will not be shaken. Our spiritual life is like a race. We must endure, and when the race of our life is over, we will receive the gift of salvation! So, run—don’t walk—into His loving arms.
