I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. –Psalm 16:8 NIV
I act differently in the presence of others. For example, my behavior changes when my mom comes for a visit to stay at my home. I keep the house cleaner, and I watch more closely what I say, as well as what I don’t say. What happens to my behavior in the presence of my Heavenly Father? How has my behavior changed since knowing that God, the Holy and all-mighty One, has moved in with me and is with me at every moment? Before I knew Him, I would have run in the opposite direction. I used to fear that He would strike me with lightning for my sins, believing He wouldn't want to be near me because my life was chaos. However, it's precisely because of my mess that I need Him. God described Himself to Moses: “I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness…I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin” (Exodus 34:6-7 NLT). The Lord proclaims in 2 Corinthians 6:18 (NLT), “And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters.” According to His Word, I am His child, an overcomer, and loved unconditionally. The Lord, my Father, now lives in me. I want to keep my heart, His dwelling place, clean—guarding my thoughts, words, and actions. As I keep my eyes on Him, my perspective changes. My mindset shifts from scarcity to abundance. I see myself as He sees me. I have a heart of gratitude. I am safe in the midst of the storm. I see that struggles are the way to breakthroughs. I see the beauty around me. I give. I hope. I love. I run to Him.
Lord, give me eyes to see and ears to hear You throughout my days in order to know Your good, pleasing, and perfect will.
Holy Spirit, increase my faith to know nothing can separate me from Your loving presence.
