Day 3: Looking Past the Smile

If I say, “I will forget my complaint, I will change my expression, and smile.” –Job 9:27 NIV

Just because someone doesn’t complain doesn’t mean they aren’t in pain. Some have learned to push past the pain or ignore it. They choose to face the world each day with a smile. However, that doesn’t make it any less painful. They propose not to let any type of pain control their day. There is often great pain behind the smile, but the smile never fades. Unfortunately, not everything is as it seems on the surface, underneath is often a real struggle. Instead of giving a fake smile, what if we remembered that the joy of the Lord is our strength, and His grace is sufficient for everything. We can do all things through Christ’s strength. Let’s look past the smile and watch for signs of pain instead. Encourage everyone you meet. It only takes a second to change a lifetime.

prayer focuses

Ask the Father to help you see the pain behind the smile.

We can’t change the past, but we can improve people’s future by helping them find God’s healing for inner wounds.
