Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. –Ephesians 6:11 NIV
Just as our military puts on physical and technical armor, so should we put on our full armor that God has so graciously given us. Warfare is no longer restricted to only physical attacks. Every day our country faces cyberattacks—silent, unseen attacks; yet, thankfully our military is equipped to combat these invisible enemies. We too face invisible attacks from our enemy, the “father of lies” (John 8:44), who seeks to destroy us by stealing our peace and happiness. However, just as our military is equipped to fight the unseen attacks, so are we. God has equipped us with armor to protect our minds, bodies, and souls from Satan (Ephesians 6:10-18). It is up to us to put these protective elements to work. When we put on the Belt of Truth, we are fortified to withstand the enemy’s lies and instead see ourselves as God sees us—His children, holy and dearly loved. The Breastplate of Righteousness, the Shoes of Peace (oh, that’s a hard one right now), and the Shield of Faith protect our bodies. However, the Helmet of Salvation protects the most important part—our mind! It changes our mindset to one of hope, shifts our desires to align with His Word, and rewires our brains to think positively. Finally, let us take up the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God—the only offensive weapon listed in this passage—and start fighting!
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you put on your armor every single day.
Don’t start your day without it! When the enemy is trying to infiltrate your mind, put on your Helmet of Salvation and grab your Sword of the Spirit! Speak God’s Word against him and watch him flee!
