But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?–1 John 3:17 ESV
There are people who give generously and others who don’t. We should all understand that everyone has something to offer—money, volunteer time, or donations from simply cleaning out your closet. There are so many people in need—give from your heart and not to compete with others.Your Father in Heaven was the original Giver—He gave His only Son. So, let the Holy Spirit lead you to know how you can give. A Christ-like life is a witness of God’s love for others in need. James 2:15-16 (NIV) says, Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? Also, Matthew 10:42 (NIV) tells you, And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward. You should not worry about building your treasures here on earth, but in eternity. What better way than to share God’s generous, giving spirit with others than being a giver in whatever way your heart feels led by God to give?
Ask the Lord to help you have a generous heart.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead you in recognizing the needs of others.
