Christmas Gifts Unopened

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. –Romans 12:6-8 NIV

Imagine children excitedly clamoring out of their bedrooms Christmas morning, squealing with delight over decorations and the lights on the tree. They eagerly dig through the presents and meticulously stack them into a big pile in the corner. With a little nudge, you say, “Go ahead, open your gifts.” Puzzled they look at you and declare, “On no, Mom. I can’t Dad. I see those beautiful gifts and my name is all over them, but that can’t mean they are really mine. I’ll let one of your more faithful children have them.” Silly, right? That would never happen! Yet our Father in Heaven gives gifts that some of us refuse every day. The first and greatest gift is salvation through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, as Savior. Once we have accepted that gift, God is constantly pouring out His Spirit to the extent we will receive.Every day is Christmas when your Father owns it all, and He wants you to open every gift He has for you, especially your spiritual gifts! Don’t stack them in the corner—open them, use them at every opportunity to build up His Kingdom.

prayer focuses

Ask God to reveal any gifts that you haven’t opened.

Ask God to show you how to use your gifts in ways that glorify and honor Him.
