FORGETTING WHAT IS PAST

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. –Isaiah 43:18 NIV

It has been said that you “live life going forward, but understand it going backward.” It’s important that you prayerfully consider your thoughts and behaviors in the past, but for one reason only. Reflection on your past just one day at a time is easiest. What did you do right today? What were your missteps? It is a time when the Holy Spirit can reveal to you what hinders your walk. You may have opened the door to some sin that wants to hide deep within your heart, had thoughts that did not glorify God, or participated in unhealthy behaviors. Reflection leads to confession to repentance, and repentance to an unbroken intimacy and fellowship with God. If you are floundering through your days feeling like there’s something between you and God, you may be right. Stay in alignment with God’s mind and His will by checking yourself daily, doing what you need to do, and then moving on—it’s gone.

Thank God that He doesn’t regard the sins of your past once their forgiven.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you look, think, and move forward, forgetting the former and forgiven things.
