Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you. –Galatians 5:1 MSG
Independence Day is certainly a day of celebration for Americans as we honor the anniversary of our freedom and the day that we became our own nation. However, as Christians, we can celebrate our freedom in Christ every day of the year.Second Corinthians 3:17 (NIV) states, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” We know that when we accepted Christ in our lives, we took God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit into our hearts and souls to dwell there. We can now rest knowing that our past, our sins, our mistakes, and bad decisions are all forgotten and forgiven. We have a blank slate. We have true freedom! Amen!So today, on this holiday, fly your flags, dress in red, white, and blue, and pay tribute to America and how far we’ve come as a free country. Thank the military personnel you may see for continuing to keep us safe and fighting for this right. And then tomorrow, and every tomorrow thereafter, thank and praise God that He allows you to be free in His Spirit every day of the year. That’s a freedom no one can ever take from you.
Pray for military men and women and their families—that they would be safe as they defend freedom near and far.
Pray that the Holy Spirit would remind you every day that you are free in Christ!
