Day 158: Religious

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” –John 3:3 NLT

Two definitions for “religious” are: 1) relating to, or devoted to religious beliefs or observances; 2) used in the practice or worship services of a religion.Too often people think of Christians as being “religious”—not understanding our personal relationship with Christ. We don’t come to a religion when we come to Jesus. We come to a Person. Many people miss this connection to a personal Savior versus following religious obligation. Our eyes are opened when we accept Jesus personally and become spiritually reborn. When we believe in the power of the Cross, our mindset changes from duty to acceptance that Christ is the only way for salvation. His blood that was shed paid for all our transgressions—past, present, and future. Most people believe they live a good life and do good things, but this isn’t salvation. Just being religious misses the reason Christians live lives of holiness. There is nothing we can do to earn everlasting life. It is because of everything Jesus did that we have eternal hope. He calls us His friends and promises to be with us always. That is true relationship, not obligation.

prayer focuses

When you have a personal relationship with Jesus, then you are in the center of His will.

God sent His Son to take your place on the Cross. Thank God for His love and your salvation.
