Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. –Psalm 127:3 NIV
There’s a saying about life that can also be applied to parenthood—the days are long, but the years are short. When you’re smack-dab in the middle of raising tiny human beings, you may often feel overwhelmed, undervalued, and woefully unappreciated. You may think that wiping one more snotty nose, kissing one more boo-boo, or applauding one more successful potty deposit will drive you cray-cray. But don’t think for one moment that God doesn’t see all that you do or that it’s meaningless. Even if no one else ever appreciates your efforts, God does. Not only that, but He values the endless devotion and sacrifice of parents. Every act of kindness and tenderness points your children to their heavenly Father. Never underestimate what God can create from the hundreds of little things that you think don’t matter.
Father, give me a tender heart toward my children, even on the longest days.
Lord, help me see my children through Your eyes.
