He’ll Never Leave nor Forsake You

…I will never leave you nor forsake you. –Joshua 1:5 NIV

The word “leave” in today’s verse means “fail.” God is telling us that He will not fail to fulfill the promises He has made to us. He will not change His mind, and He will not forget. God is making us a promise. He will not fail to bring forth the promises He has made about our future. The word “forsake” means to abandon. God will not abandon you. If you have ever been hurt, perhaps by a parent, spouse, or friend, you may understand what it feels like to be abandoned. Perhaps, no one has ever physically abandoned you, but you feel cut off and emotionally alone. God promises He will not abandon you.In the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning, you are never alone because God is always with you. He cares about and for you. He will never fail you, and He will never abandon you. God promises to be with you, always.

prayer focuses

Thank You, God, for Your promise to always be by my side.

Holy Spirit, please help me encourage those who feel as though God has abandoned them.
