Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. –Ephesians 3:17 NLT
More than any other time of year, Christmas turns hearts toward home. You may reminisce of Christmases past, laugh at the pictures, and smile at the memories. You may think about those you love, and about those far away or in heaven. There is a song, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” by Bing Crosby, that has the power to stir emotions to think of loved ones far away.I’ll be home for Christmas, you can plan on me.Please have snow and mistletoe, and presents on the tree.Christmas Eve will find me, where the love light gleams.I’ll be home for Christmas…if only in my dreams.Earthly homes crumble, people move on or away, and children grow to make homes of their own; but when you have allowed Jesus to make your heart HIS home, you are never alone, and you have the assurance that what used to be is nothing compared with what is to come. Whatever season of life you are in, you can wake up Christmas morning and celebrate that the divine Son of God was born, died, and rose again, just to save your soul.
As you reminisce about past years, ask God to highlight the joys and to give you strength through the lows.
Ask the Lord to fill your home with His peace and joy as you dwell in His presence.
