If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land. –2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
Each 4th of July our nation celebrates its independence from England. On this supremely significant day in 1776, fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence in a Pennsylvania colony. It was the birth of our American independence. The signing of this document paved the way for the United States of America to become the greatest nation in the world.John Adams, one of the founders of our country, wrote the following words: “It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”How many of us actually turn to God on this day with solemn acts of devotion? Do we think of God as the Source of our rights? He deserves praise and honor on Independence Day and every day. Our Almighty God has given us our heritage—let us be mindful of the favor with which He has blessed the United States of America. Pray and ask God to continue to bless our land and turn hearts back to Him.
Thank God that He is the rock on which this nation was founded.
Father, we pray, trust, and believe You will keep the USA in Your loving care.
