Joyful, Patient, and Faithful

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. –Romans 12:12 NIV

Living the life of a Christian is so rewarding, but it can be a challenge as well. When you make your profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, it doesn’t mean you will be exempt from trials and tribulation. Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NKJV).This means, my friend, that we are more than conquerors through our Lord Jesus (Romans 8:37). The apostle Paul encourages us to be joyful in hope. To hope is to desire with expectation of fulfillment. As children of God, we should always expect fulfillment of God’s promises in our lives. We should be patient in affliction—when pain and distress come, we need to be still and wait in the goodness of our Lord who is sovereign, merciful, and loving. He will meet our every need. Also, let us be faithful in prayer, trust, and be confident in the God of all the universe. Let us pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) no matter what storms we face. Stay joyful, patient, and faithful—and be thankful in all circumstances.
