“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” –Matthew 22:36-38 ESV
This seems like such a simple command, yet we live in a world that is complicated and messages easily get turned around. When we don’t follow this command—the one that Jesus says is the great and first commandment—we may be pleasing others or ourselves, but not our Creator. When we love God first, we will find that God changes us from the inside out, our priorities change, and burdens are no longer heavy. He gives us peace and clarity of what is and what is not important. The more we love God, the more we will walk in alignment with Him, and the better we will know when something is or is not from Him.God is perfect, but He does not expect us to be. When we find that we are failing or flailing, the Holy Spirit is right there to help us. All we have to do is ask.
God, thank You for being the perfect God and making me in Your image.
Please help me love You with all of my being. God, thank You for loving me perfectly, just the way I am! Please help me to seek You and know that all else will follow.
