Day 168: Staying in Step with God

Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I’m on the right way. –Psalm 16:11 MSG

Wherever you are in your life adventure with God, know that He is watching out for you and longs for you to enjoy a fulfilling life here on earth as you travel homeward bound to where He is. He longs for you to trust in Him, stay in step with His Spirit, and continuously choose the life path He destined for you to travel. His Word says, “So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective” (Colossians 3:1-2 MSG).When the desires of your heart parallel God’s, you’ll go forward and experience more joy and satisfaction in the promising land. When you truly delight yourself in the Lord, the things of this world lose their place in your life. It is then that the desires of your heart become centered on God and what He desires. Truly, no good thing does He withhold from those who love Him.

prayer focuses

Lord, as I delight in You, the things of this world lose their hold on me.

May the desires of Your heart be found in me. Lead me, Holy Spirit, along the narrow path that leads to everlasting life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
