This is the confidence we have approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he will hear us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. –1 John 5:14-15 NIV
When told he could have anything his heart wanted, Solomon asked for wisdom. His heart was pure and honest in that request. Because of that, God also gave him wealth and power beyond his imagination. What would you have asked for? I think I would’ve asked for the ability to live above my emotions, to be able to love unconditionally, and to not be sidetracked by hurt feelings. In this life, offenses occur. As surely as the sun will rise tomorrow, someone will go out of their way to offend us. Is it possible to be so secure in God’s love that it doesn’t matter if others harpoon us? Is it possible in the face of adversity to sincerely pray, “Father forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing? ”I believe it is, otherwise the Father wouldn’t have given us Jesus as an example to follow. I also believe that forgiveness is one of the single most difficult things the Father asks us to do. It only becomes possible when we are willing to surrender all—that all includes our pride. When we surrender all to the Father, He provides the ability to forgive. Love conquerors all.
