…A life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you. –Ephesians 4:23-24 MSG
When someone asks Jesus to forgive his or her sins, that person moves from the old self to a new self. According to Bible teacher Derek Prince, the “old man” is the product of Satan’s deception; the “new man” is the product of God’s truth. The truth of God is found in His Word (see Romans 6:6). Our old self was crucified with Christ when we became born-again believers. Sin no longer rules us. The Holy Spirit now leads us.We can stay on our path by praying, reading God’s Word, and allowing His will to be accomplished in our lives. We are led by the Holy Spirit; our sins are gone and forgiven. Keep looking to the present and future. The Lord has thrown all your past sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19 (MSG) says, “And compassion is on its way to us. You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing. You’ll sink our sins to the bottom of the ocean.” Our old self was corrupt. We are renewed in our mind and spirit when we accept Jesus as our Savior and allow the process to begin! The Holy Spirit is renewing us daily as we pray, read, and draw close to our Lord and Savior. Thank You, Lord, for sanctifying and setting us apart. We have to put off the old and put on the new as righteous and holy children of God.
Thank You, Jesus, for the old-new exchange that You provided on the Cross.
We are new creations in Christ; the old self has passed and the new self is transforming with the help of the Holy Spirit.
