Our Role As Parents

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. –Ephesians 6:4 NIV

God’s Word places great emphasis on fathers. Parents are instruments in God’s hand to model the love, discipline, and counsel that God offers His children. We are to instruct our children in the words of the Lord for their spiritual growth and well-being. In other words, our role as parents is to point our children to Jesus. It’s no wonder that one of Satan’s most used tactics is to divide and conquer the family. If he can destroy the godly parent, especially the father’s influence, he is well on his way to winning the battle for the next generation’s eternal souls. God’s Word is clear on parenting in Ephesians 6:4. Whatever role you find yourself parenting in, pray for your children daily using God’s Word, the Bible, as the instruction book—a guide to discipline, love, and counsel. Ask Him to mold you into the parent and role model He designed you to be.
