…Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts. –1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT
Everyone likes a pat on the back, a “Good job,” and a “Thank you.” It’s when you cross the line of measuring yourself by how others react to you that you get in trouble. Looking for your worth in others’ eyes is akin to looking for wealth (your pot of gold) at the end of a rainbow. Since rainbows can only be seen from a distance, that gold is always illusive; so it is with people’s approval. We serve a great and mighty God, and it is He alone whom you will stand before in judgment. Your one purpose on this earth is to live a life pleasing in obedience to Him. Start every day with Him in mind. Believe what He says. Obey His commands. Do the best you can to walk with integrity today and live a life that mirrors the character of His Son, Jesus Christ. “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that he rewards those who sincerely seek him” (Hebrews 11:6 NLT).
Thank God for His never-ending love for you.
Ask Him to help you follow the example of Jesus, and live for Him!
