Rescue Me

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. –Luke 19:10 NLT

Have you seen the television commercials with dogs looking sad, frightened, and alone? Chained up, starving, and in pain? If the dogs could make a wish, surely it would be to be found and saved from their misery, or to fall asleep never to wake to the stench of hopelessness surrounding them. The organizations running the commercials ask for financial help to rescue the animals from this plight. They show people coming into their environment, freeing them from their bondage, and bringing them to a place of safety, love, care, and a fresh start. Have you ever felt like the poor little irredeemable dog? Lost, alone, frightened, in pain, and wondering if anyone will come to your rescue. You are in a sad place feeling spirit-broken. Know that Jesus looks for the strays. He looks for those trapped and chained down—and He moves them to a place of new beginnings. He will feed them, give them water, speak to them with love, bandage their wounds, and give them a new hope where insecurity and danger do not exist. If you’re bound in misery, peek out, look up, and allow Jesus to rescue you and give you a new life.
