Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” –Romans 12:19 ESV
If someone treats you badly, their ignorance is not your fault! Stop and think about it. Is there a reason for this treatment that maybe you are unaware of? People hide behind walls that they have built, and sometimes you are attempting to tear down the wall that they are not ready to have come down. First and foremost, we have to forgive whoever treats us badly. We have to forgive because God first forgave us. As stated in Matthew 6:14-15, we must forgive if we expect God to forgive us. Evangelist Beth Moore talks about how a self-made fortress not only keeps love from going out, it keeps love from coming in. Proverbs 18:1 (NKJV) says, “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment." Trust God with people you can’t get along with or who treat you badly. The Holy Spirit is walking beside you in every situation you encounter, for He is showing you the right way to go! Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NIV) says, “If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
Praise and thank the Lord for all the good things He has done on behalf of you, your family, and friends.
Ask the Holy Spirit to cultivate the fruit of the Sprit within you—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
