Do you know the balancing of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge? –Job 37:16 ESV
As a child, who didn’t love lying in the grass watching the clouds? There were so many different cloud shapes as they shifted and moved, driven by the wind. They didn’t fight over position, recognition, or territory. One minute there was an elephant and the next a castle, but they were all still clouds. That’s the perfect picture of what we, as Christ followers, should be like. We are one body, yet we all have different functions. One day we may be an encouragement to someone, the next a teacher, and yet another day, a provider of someone’s needs. We should be able to shift and change, driven by the Holy Spirit to become what God needs us to be. There should never be a power struggle for position, a need for recognition, or a dispute over territory. We are here to glorify the Lord, not ourselves. Clouds aren’t the only thing beautiful to watch—people who walk in love are too. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. There’s nothing more wonderful than the believer who is willing to show God’s love in various ways each day. What shape are you today?
Take a lesson from the clouds, be pliable.
Ask the Father to use you in whatever capacity He needs you. Examine your heart and ask yourself, “How can I best serve the Lord?” Are you willing to shift your plans to His?
