Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. –Romans 8:1 NIV
If you’ve ever had to deal with someone in your life who has an issue with anger, you’ve probably heard them say, “It’s your fault, you make me so angry!” If they break something in an outburst, it’s your fault. If you end the relationship, it’s your fault. Instead of accepting responsibility for their own behavior or actions, they choose to blame you. In Mark 5:1-20, we read the story of a man who was demon possessed. It says in verse 6 that when he saw Jesus coming from a distance, he ran and fell on his face before Him. He then begged Jesus not to torture him. He recognized who Christ was and trembled. This man didn’t try to accuse Jesus of anything, for he knew it was pointless. We who are in Christ are forgiven, and no demon in hell has the authority to accuse us of anything. However, if we listen to his cajoling, his subtle digs and lies, we will condemn ourselves. We in essence give the accuser permission to keep us defeated. Instead, stand up! When the voice of condemnation comes against you, refuse to listen. Instead, proclaim your position in Christ boldly!
Father, help me to identify the voice of condemnation and render it powerless over me.
I will not walk in condemnation any longer. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk in victory. When the voice of defeat comes, take authority over it at once.
