I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. –2 Timothy 1:5 NIV
In this society, we don’t value the older generations well; they are often cast aside. I am blessed with five grandchildren who all live nearby. I grew up in a different era, and my grandchildren will ask to hear stories of old. They love the stories, and it gives them a glimpse of long ago and usually ends with many laughs. They are always interested in our family history and the good ole days.It is important to me to feel like I still play a vital role in their lives. My grandchildren know I pray for them. I ask them to tell me what to pray for, and they answer immediately. My main objective is for them to see me living a godly life. I try to love them unconditionally the way God loves me, but I may never be able to completely achieve that here on earth. However, I like to think that by following God’s example it may be reachable. I pray my stories of old will live on and that they remember that their grandma loved God, loved His Word, and had a personal relationship with Him. That is the legacy I want to leave. What legacy do you want to leave for your family?
Thank God for those special people in your life and ask Him to help you share your stories and love of God with them.
May we always love and care for the older generation and be thankful for the godly wisdom they share.
