It’s the same with you. When you’ve done everything expected of you, be matter-of-fact and say, “The work is done. What we were told to do, we did.” –Luke 17:10 MSG
When we were younger, we were expected to do what we were told to do by our parents or guardians. Life hasn’t changed too much as we grow older. We are still expected to do what we are told by those in authority over us. However, the ultimate authority is God. When we read His Word, the Bible, we learn what He expects of us.God’s Word is our personal message from Him. It is the truth about life, and it is always guiding us on our path to our eternal home. Reading the Bible is what we are supposed to do. Jesus told us that we will have trouble, yet we can trust Him to help us through it. “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world” (John 16:33 MSG). God will accomplish His purposes despite our frailties, little faith, refusal to do what He says, and trying to do it on our own. Let us trust Him, and do what God says in His Word.
Look at your life and try to find areas where you are not obeying God or living the way He wants you to live.
Ask Him for help to overcome those areas of disobedience. God, help me to follow You and do what is right.
