And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. –Galatians 6:9 NKJV
The disciples and those who loved Jesus had no idea on Friday what was coming. They didn’t remember Jesus’ prophecies about rising again. They were clueless. But Sunday was coming. We have the grace and blessing of knowing the end of the story.Today’s grief might feel like a never-ending Friday. But Sunday is coming. In the meantime, acknowledge you’re hurting, allow the tears to come, and know that it is okay to grieve. Dwell on what the truth of the Gospel tells you:Remind yourself that you’re not alone. (Hebrews 13:5)Remember that it’s okay to feel weak. (2 Corinthians 12:9)Remind yourself that you don’t have to be afraid. (Hebrews 13:6)Remember that God cares. (Matthew 10:29-30)The trials will come but John 16:33 (ESV) says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Jesus knew we would go through various sufferings. Everyone does especially in today’s world—but we know what happens on Sunday. We win because of Jesus.
Praise God that Sunday came.
Don’t be naïve or foolish—trust God.
