It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. –1 Peter 2:15 NLT
Has someone ever accused you of something that was completely and utterly not true? As people of God, we should be living our lives in a way that any “foolish accusations” are only that—accusations that have no grounding in truth or reality. The challenge that Peter is issuing to us in this verse is no small task. In our world today, living a life different from the ways of this world is more difficult than ever. Our environment does not change God’s standard. He calls us to something so much greater than mediocrity. He calls us to be set apart so that the lost and broken around us can be drawn to Him because of the way we are living our lives. In its most basic form, I am talking about integrity. In practice, I am echoing Peter’s challenge to us as followers of Jesus to make on-purpose decisions in every moment of our day to live for Christ. Choose today to live differently so that when anyone tries to accuse you or challenge your character, they will have nothing to stand on.
Lord, help me today to live each moment for You and that every step I take would be an on-purpose choice to live out Your plan.
Give me the strength to run from temptation so that I can keep my heart clear and my life honorable.
