Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. –1 Thessalonians 5:23 ESV
Your spirit is designed to be the storage place of immense spiritual treasure—the knowledge of God Himself. And through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus, you’ve been invited to know the Holy One personally! Through the Scriptures, you can cherish in your mind and heart the very words of the Creator. But if you’re not diligent and careful to guard this sacred space, your soul easily becomes a dumping ground for heaping up piles of worldly junk. It’s your responsibility to be diligent to keep things tidy and clean in your soul. And that is often similar to cleaning out a closet or garage, which starts by sorting through items individually and asking, “Should I keep this?”When you are evaluating emotional fragments piled up inside your heart, ask yourself the same thing. If you are harboring bitterness, anger, or malice toward anyone for anything, regardless of the circumstance, the answer is always “no.” The quicker you toss powerful, soul clogging attitudes through the door of forgiveness, the freer you become.
God, help me see what things need to be tossed out of my life and have the power to do it.
Jesus, I know I need to forgive. Help me see those who hurt me through Your eyes and then let go.
