Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control. –Proverbs 25:28 NIV
To get to where we want to go or to become who we want to be, we often have to do things we don’t want to do. A concert pianist probably began simply as a child whose mother made him practice. He may not have wanted to practice, and instead he may have wanted to go outside and play with his friends. However, all that practice took him to the place he is today. The discipline was worth the sacrifice. What do you want to be or do? Where in life do you want to go? What is it that you don’t want to do to get there? Discipline isn’t only for children; in fact, adults need it too. We all know an adult or two who could use a good “time out.” You can get to where you want to be if you aren’t afraid of discipline.Put your druthers aside, sacrifice your comfort level, and keep your eyes on the goal. Don’t wait until you feel like doing it, for that’ll never happen. Your inner virtuoso is longing to emerge. Dare to discipline and dare to sacrifice, for the best is yet to come.
What are you willing to do to receive God’s best? Pray for the desire to display self-discipline.
Pray for wisdom to see areas in your life that need self-discipline.
