And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. –Romans 5:5 NLT
Anyone can say they love someone—words are easy to say, but love is more than a word. True love is about what someone is willing to give up. It is an action. People thrive when they are truly loved. The world has a false concept of love. We see too often that the love in this world fades and can be taken away. Biblical love is completely different. We were created to be filled with the love of God. When the world fails us, we know God is always waiting for us with His everlasting love. It is not based on what we do or don’t do. His love is unconditional. It draws us near and loves us right where we are. It does not depend on performance. We will never measure up. That is not what His love is based on. Romans 8:39 (NLT) tells us, “No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus loves you so much that He gave His life for you. That is true love.
Lord God, how vast is Your love for me! Let me always put You first.
