So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. –John 8:36 NIV
We are promised in John 8:36 that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. The sole purpose of salvation is freedom procured by love. There is a freedom that will truly set your soul on fire. This freedom doesn’t come easily or naturally, and it takes a huge commitment on our part. Yet, everything that we’ve gone through in life has prepared us to know this freedom. When we are willing, the Father not only gives us the desire but the ability to succeed. What is this freedom? The freedom to love the unlovable. The ability to love those who mistreat us without living with a roller coaster of hurt feelings and offenses. When we decide that we’re going to love others no matter how they behave, we’re set free from the expectations of reciprocated love.It no longer depends on their behavior, but rather how I respond to them. This allows us to be set free from the effects of the drama and chaos. Freedom doesn’t excuse bad behavior or downplay its damage, but we are free to love them in spite of it.
Thank You for sending Your Son to give me freedom! Thank You for loving me even when I don’t deserve it! Ask the Father to give you the freedom to love others.
Opportunities will arise to discourage you but never give up trying.
