Day 28: Where’s Your Trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. –Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

Webster’s dictionary defines trust as, “Reliability, truth, ability, or strength in someone or something.” Today, many trust in the wrong things—for example, the stock market. Today we’re up, tomorrow we’re down, and in between those times, we worry. We trust in the price of crude oil, gold, or silver; the list is endless. However, in each case the reliability of those things is never secure. Here is a different definition of trust: T-total R-reliance U-under S-stressful T-times Trust is only defined during times of testing and trials. How can we trust something that hasn’t been tested? It’s easy to trust when everything is going our way, but what about when it looks impossible? In this world, we are promised that everything that can be shaken will be shaken. During those times we discover just how much trust we truly have. We are told to trust in the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We are also told not to lean on our own understanding. Stressful times come and go, but we do not have to be shaken. Through our God, we shall fight valiantly; and when the battle is over, we shall celebrate the victory.

prayer focuses

Ask yourself, “What am I trusting in?” Let the Holy Spirit help you learn to trust in Him.

Don’t be surprised when stressful times come. Kick them to the curb and refuse to worry.
